On April 19, the Right Honorable Paul Martin, Prime Minister of Canada met with Ambassador Lu Shumin, during which they had friendly and cordial talks. Ambassador Lu, first of all, conveyed to Prime Minister Martin the cordial greetings and best wishes from the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. He then expressed appreciation to the Prime Minister for the positive contributions he has made to develop China-Canada relations since assuming office. Prime Minister Martin expressed thanks for this and in return, asked Ambassador Lu to convey his greetings to Premier Wen. Expressing pleasure at the rapid development of bilateral relations in recent years and the ever-expanding bilateral trade volume in particular, Prime Minister Martin said he is satisfied with the results of his trip to China early this year and voiced the hope that both sides work together to bring the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries to a new height. |
