On November 5 2004, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing made a phone conversation with his American counterpart Powell.

The two sides exchanged views on further developing the constructive and cooperative relations between China and the US as well as strengthening the coordination and reciprocal cooperation in fields such as economy and trade, counter-terrorism, the DPRK nuclear issue and law enforcement. The two sides also exchanged views on how to properly handle the Iran nuclear issue within the framework of the IAEA.
