In a few days, it will be the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC). To celebrate this major event, we prepared an photo exhibition entitled "The Centennial History of the Communist Party of China". We hope the exquisite photos on exhibition will help all sectors in Canada learn more about the CPC and understand the real China.
The one hundred years of the CPC represent its efforts to fulfill its original mission, witness the hardship the CPC encountered in laying the foundation for a lofty cause, and foresee an even brighter future. Next, I would like to give a brief introduction of the past 100 years the CPC has traversed from the dimensions of time and space.
From the dimension of time, the glorious miracles of the CPC mark many "first times" in the 5000-year history of Chinese civilization and even in human history. The CPC has saved China from the plight of poverty, weakness and being bullied by foreign forces, which had lasted for more than one hundred years after modern times, thus opening a new era in Chinese history. Thanks to the CPC, the Chinese people have truly become the master of their country, society and their destiny. Within several decades, the CPC has led the Chinese people to complete industrialization, which took developed countries several hundred years. China has become the world's second largest economy and the largest manufacturing powerhouse. Moreover, the CPC has resolutely fought against poverty. Since the reform and opening up in 1978, 770 million people have been lifted out of poverty, an achievement representing 70 percent of the global poverty reduction effort. China has become the first developing country in the world to attain the poverty reduction goal in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. It has made great historic achievements in solving the absolute poverty problem that has plagued China for thousands of years, creating a miracle in the history of human poverty reduction.
In terms of space, with the leadership of the CPC, China has seen multitudes of miracles taking place on its vast land, which covers more than 9.6 million square kilometers. All across the country, Chinese Communists have remained true to their original aspiration, kept their mission firmly in mind, and made relentless efforts to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, all ethnic groups have got along in harmony and the people have lived in peace and worked in contentment. Apart from pursuit of happiness for the Chinese people, and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the CPC also strives for the common good for the world. Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, China has proposed to build a community with a shared future for mankind and is committed to the joint pursuit of the Belt and Road Initiative to bring benefits to the people of countries and regions along the route. In addition, China has played a major role in peacekeeping, counter-terrorism, environmental protection, fighting climate change, addressing regional hotspot issues and the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. China has always been a "doer" in various undertakings of the United Nations and has always pursued and upheld multilateralism. The CPC has made significant contributions to world peace, stability, development and prosperity.

In 100 years, the CPC has grown from just more than 50 members when it was first born to the largest Marxist ruling party in the world today with over 90 million members. The glorious journey that the CPC has gone through in uniting and leading the people of all ethnic groups in the course of revolution, development and reform fully testifies that the leadership of the CPC is the correct decision made by history and the people, and has won wide support from the 1.4 billion Chinese people. Opinion polls by authoritative international organizations show that Chinese people's satisfaction with the Chinese government under the leadership of the CPC has exceeded 90 percent for years in a row.
I hope that after visiting the photo exhibition, you will know more about the history of the CPC, be more interested in China's development, and be willing to visit China.
